U.S. Army MOS 88H is the Cargo Specialist, a crucial logistics role responsible for supervising and executing the transfer, documentation, and handling of military freight, equipment, weapons, and mail across land, air, and sea transport.

Core Duties

Cargo Handling: Load and unload supplies from ships, docks, aircraft, railcars, and trucks.

Equipment Operation: Operate heavy machinery like forklifts, cranes, and rough-terrain container handlers.

Documentation: Inspect, count, tally, and catalog complex inventory and cargo manifests using manual and automated systems.

Safety & Supervision: Enforce safety protocols and manage staging, marshalling, and rigging operations.

Training & Qualifications

Initial Training: Standard 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training followed by roughly 8 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT).

Skill Focus: Classroom instruction and hands-on field training with material handling equipment.

Requirements: U.S. citizenship and standard ASVAB mechanical or clerical aptitude scores.
